Scioto Downs gets temporary slot-machine license (dispatch)
A local horse-racing track appears well on its way to being the first in Ohio
where patrons can play electronic slot machines. MTR Gaming Group Inc., owner
of Scioto Downs in Hamilton Township, received a temporary license yesterday
from the Ohio Lottery after clearing a cursory regulatory review and paying
$10 million. It hopes to open by the end of June. Scioto Downs is the only
Ohio racetrack so far to apply for a license.
