Old-school Not Dead, Or Producing Vintage Glamour Images
Creating vintage glamour images is fun as well as work of art as it requires a good understanding of photography as an art, posing techniques, lighting, as well as the knowledge of the good old golden days on the part of the photographer. It is so amusing because it takes keen artistic vision and can make quite a modern girl look just like the greatest models of the past on a dramatic and contrasting shot. For a glamour photographer it should be quite doable to make an old-school picture using some thoughtful lighting, posing and accessories.
The most vital aspect of such vintage shooting is all about light and arranging it well. Glamour Photos that reproduce the very glorious vintage style should be taken in a studio, for the objective can only be completed with complex lighting from various angles. One of the appealing nuances is shadow under the nose, achieved by strong and focused light from sharp angle, so that the main persona would look as if in the spotlight. Moreover, you would need two fill lights to shine on the model. The other light needed is the backlight to separate the model from the background.
Color mode is another important factor in Beauty Photography, and black and white is the perfect mode to create an elegant, stark look to bring forward the nostalgia of the golden age. Additionally, you need to make contrast you priority; for revealing and emphasizing contours of the face, make sure the fill light never exceed one third of the key light in their intensity.
Posing is of great importance in creating vintage glamour images, as the subject in the past rarely looked straight into the camera, so in order to give the golden age look, you are a photographer should make the model look to the side with a mysterious expression. Old-school glamour photographs are not about natural looks but about dramatic atmosphere. For retro beauty photography the primary subject is the model rather than her garment and entourage; so try to minimize the glamorous impact that trinkets should have and try to concentrate on the girl instead. For black and white mode, try to go for monochromatic attire, as it will increase the contrast. Do not use too many colors as the lighting will take the colors away, and try to get the make up matte, not gloss so as to absorb the hard light.
